घटना किशनगंज से सटे पश्चिम बंगाल के उत्तर दिनाजपुर जिले के गलावपोखर थाना के मजलिसपुर कमार पोखर गांव की है. दहेज की मांग को लेकर महिला का पति अपने रिश्तेदार के साथ मिलकर इसे अंजाम दिया. तेजब की वजह से महिला गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गई. किशनगंज सदर अस्पताल में जिंदगी और मौत से जूझ रही है. पीड़िता का चेहरा बुरी तरह जल गया है. एक आंख भी खराब हो गया है.

परिजनों ने बताया कि एक वर्ष पूर्व दक्षिण दवारी निवासी मेहबूब आलम से उसकी शादी हुई थी. शादी के कुछ महीनों तक सबकुछ ठीक चला रहा था. कुछ दिनों के बाद ससुरालवाले दहेज के लिए महिला को प्रताड़ित करने लगे. एक दिन दहेज की मांग करते हुआ पति ने उसकी पेट पर लात भी मारा. उस वक्त वह गर्भवती थी. घटना के बाद अस्पताल ले गया था, जहां डॉक्टर ने जांच के बाद बच्चे को मृत घोषित कर दिया था. पुलिस आरोपी पति को गिरफ्तार कर जेल भेज दिया था.

जेल से बाहर निकलने के बाद पति मेहबूब बराबर मायके आकर पत्नी को जान से मारने की धमकी देता रहता था. बुधवार की रात पीड़िता मायके में आंगन में मच्छरदानी लगाकर सोई हुई थी. अचानक उसका पति अपने जीजा मुहम्मद फकीरा आकार दोनों ने मच्छरदानी हटाकर पीड़िता के चेहरे पर तेजाब फेंक दिया. वह चीखने-चिल्लाने लगी. घटना को अंजाम देने के बाद दोनों मौके से फरार हो गए. आनन-फानन में इलाज के लिए पीड़िता को अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया, जहां वह जिंदगी और मौत से जूझ रही है.

स्थानीय लोगों ने घटना की सूचना निरसा थाना को दी . निरसा के रहने वाले दिनेश अपनी 10 वर्षीय बेटी खुशबू को लेकर कस्तुरबा विद्यालय में नामांकन कराने बाइक से जा रहे थे. इस दौरान टक्कर में पिता और बेटी दोनों की मृत्यु हो गई. इस घटना के बारे में जानकर शहर में हर कोई शॉक्ड है.

दुर्घटना के बाद लोगों ने सड़क को जाम कर दिया और पुलिस को तुरंत इस घटना की सूचना दी गई. पुलिस मौके पर पहुंचकर शव को कब्जे में लिया और पोस्टमार्टम के लिए शव को भेज दिया है. पुलिस मामले की पूरी जांच कर रही है. 
वही मृतका के रिश्तेदार ने बताया की कस्तुरबा विद्यालय नामांकन के सिलसिले में उन्होंने ही दिनेश को बुलाया था मगर ईसीएल की बेकाबू गाड़ी ने दोनों को रोंद दिया. अब मुआवजा को लेकर ईसीएल प्रबंधक से बात की जा रही है. मृतक के परिजनों को उचित मुआवजा मिले इसके लिए प्रयास किया जा रहा है.
