Twelve vehicles were set ablaze in Bhandup in the wee hours on Monday.
According to the police, the incident occurred at Shriram pada, a locality comprising chawls. “Eleven motorcycles and a car were parked on the road and they were set to fire,” said a police officer.
The residents who were sleeping were woken up by heavy smoke. They realized that the vehicles had been set ablaze.
The fire-brigade was informed, after which the fire was brought under control.
